Imfolozi Lions

Currently Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve is experiencing hot and humid conditions, temperatures of up to 40 degrees have been recorded this past week. Adding to the fact that the area still has not received much rain we are truly hopeful that the catchment areas will soon receive their summer rainfall. This is the second concurrent year that we have not received our normal rainfall and evidence of this is white clear once within the reserve.

Hluhluwe Umfolozi however at present offers some incredible sightings this due to the fact that the remaining water sources are being patrolled by numerous predators such as Lions. Should you be contemplating a safari to the area it is advised to travel to the lower Umfolozi area where most of the Lion's are at present.

The rainfall season in the area starts from September to end February, torrential downpours are common during this time and it is advisable to always enquire before traveling over the various bridges.

game capture hluhluwe

This week the game capture unit where witnessed in the Umfolozi, this was a rare and exciting opportunity for our clients as they get to witness and understand the importance of this unit. They are continuously on the look out for injured wildlife. The game capture unit this week where busy with rhino's and we where assured that all animals where released back without any injury. This unit is the most passionate group of people that you could ever meet their passion for what it is that they do day in and day out is truly commendable.
